I have no problem with people who only want to cosplay characters within their skin tone. If that’s what you want to do or if that what makes you feel comfortable then do it. What I do have a problem with, is people who only cosplay characters within their skin tone just to make people like this  happy. People who afraid of getting mocked for cosplaying someone who are several shades lighter than them or people who feel like other cosplayer won’t ‘take them seriously’ when they cosplay someone not their skin tone.

The reason stuff like this bothers me because if someone feels the need to make a negative comment, form a negative opinion, or even have a negative ‘emotional’ response on what you chose to cosplay then the problem is with them and not you. There is no legitimate reason to get upset over someone cosplaying something no matter their skin tone, gender, weight, or height. (And no your extreme love for certain character does not count as a good enough reason)

The point I’m trying to make is why bother worrying and trying to cater your cosplay decisions to please the minds of those who are ignorant?
